My mirror was recently hit with something and is now cracked. The mirror housing is fine, just the mirror is damaged. I would like to just replace the mirror......does anyone know how to remove it from the housing ? I cannot seem to get it to pop out. I've put a screwdriver behind it and torqued on it quite a bit, but cannot get it to pop out....I really don't want to break or wreck the paint on the housing.
I can't give you any guidance on how the mirror on a 2000 ES attaches; however, I did replace the mirror glass on the 93 LS I previously owned. The layout may be the same. You may be able to determine this by looking at the back of the new mirror.
The LS mirror was held in place by four clips, small ones at the top and bottom and longer ones on the sides. The key part in removing this mirror was to get the bottom clip to release. I was able to do this by inserting a screwdriver (wrapped in tape) between the mirror and the mirror housing and then twisting the screwdriver. Once the bottom clip released, the others released very easily.
I was in a winshield shop recently getting a chip fixed. They had a small display of some sort of mirror material that they cut on site. This stuff sticks directly over your existing mirror and apparently you can't tell the difference.
Might be a cheap option.

Thank you very much !! I gave it a try today and got it ! There is a plate inside the mirror housing that the mirrir attaches to. You need to release the clips at the bottom (by inserting a screwdriver and twisting) and then there are just 2 hooks at the top that you can un-hook and then remove the mirror.
