Does anyone know where I can find the material that the trunk lining is made of, or a material that is nearly exact in color and texture.

I tried a "charcoal" polyester felt from our local fabric store, but it was much lighter than I though (bought the material after dark!). My wife suggested that I dye it darker to match, however, through a bit of research I found out that polyester is very difficult to dye, and is a task that really should not be attempted by an amateur.

My intentions are to use this material to cover my custom subwoofer enclosure and I want it to look as if it were an OEM option. I am not a fan of the after-market, flashy look.

Once the enclosure is finished, I will post pictures in a separate thread.

 

Try a salvage yard. There must be some wrecks by now. All of the trunk material is the same.

 

Go to your local stereo shop...they build speakers boxes and line with material that matches the trunk. Also you can go to your fabric stores they carry headliner material and trunk material as well. Hancocks is a fabric store near where I live that I get all that material...and usually 40-50% off.

 

With that said, have you found a material that matches (even closely) the trunk lining?

I went to the fabric store online that you referenced, and purchased some material thats looks closer in color that what I bought (Item# 2660827). Hopefully it works out.

Yea....it is hard to find. I had to go searching in their bins but was able to find something that matched. If you was right up on it you could tell it was aftermarket. But other than that it was a match.
