Hey I'm interested in changing the timing on my car for faster acceleration, does it reguire any special tools. Can anyone tell me how to do it. As well as I want to change my own spark-plugs. How????

 

you need a timing light. there is a post on this already i think. if you can't figure it out, take it to someplace so they can do it for you

 

My friend at work said there was no point in raising the timing because the ECU/Computer will just reset it anyway. I think he may be wrong because hes really good with domestic cars and not really imports. Although he did have an MR-2.
Everyone wants to mod their cars but no one has mentioned the gauges you could get if you put in an Electronic Timing thingie so you can change it and compare. There is a speed shop around here that sells a simple 50-shot nitrous kit, and from what I hear you need to retard the timing anyway. If I could change it easily I want rent a dyno for an hour for like $75 to test all kinds of stuff. I want to get an RS Akimoto intake for testing too. Anyway

yeah i heard that too, but todd50 has been running higher timing without it being changed back

 

todd, what was the original setting on your car for the timing? how many degrees did you advance it? why did your computer not change it back?
