Default 2000 ES300 Electrical Lock Problem. please help

Hey everyone, i was hoping to see if I could get any help/feedback. anything is greatly appreciated. Recently i lost my master key to my vehicle, and only have the valet key. Coincidentally about this time my locking system has gone haywire. the lock lock/unlock on their own when the car is on/off. this has become annoying and no one can figure out what is going on. Anyone heard of this before or have any thoughts? Would replacing the master key with a lock/unlock button help take care of this problem? i find myself locked out of my car many times. i use my valet key to get in but the alarm keeps going off. PLEASE HELP. Thank you in advance

- Jon

When i spoke to the dealership they said it sounded like the ECU needed replacing and it would be around 1400, does this sound about right

I would be very cautious about the dealer telling you your ecu is malfunctioning. Is it possible the electronic key is somewhere in the vehicle, under seat, in seat, etc?

thank you Mike, no the key is gone. lost it in a hotel room a couple months back. one of those times. all i know is something electrical is malfunctioning, the locks seem to have a mind of their own. locking/unlocking on their own. and if the windows are down, they go up automatically as well

Wow, that is strange. Sounds like a sensor is malfunctioning, possibly in the door switch. I am not sure but on the 2000 ES models I am wondering if it was possible to make the windows go up or down from the outside drivers door lock? If that is the case I am assuming there is a sensor inside the door that is intermittenly acting up. I am going to try on my 2000 ES and repost.
