rockauto? i was looking into buying some sensors i needed to replace and ive read some good reviews on the site... jus needed some advice before...

...also i got my valve gasket covers and alternator belt replaced today and for some reason my BRAKE light on the dash is on now... did my brakes take a crap on me or did the mechanic touch something he wasnt suppose to? hes a friend of the family...

how was this.. he charged me $140 to replace valve cover gaskets and alternator belt? parts and labor included.... did i get a decent deal?

I have bought from there before, fast shipping.

as for the brake light, u might want to check your brake fluid level.

id say 140 is a very good deal if he replaced both gaskets.

I almost laways get my parts from the dealer like Corey ^. But I do get some stuff off RockAuto and love them.

As for $140......Labor is normally 3-4 It hink for it. And labor where I am is $80+ an hour.

For the brake light. Is it the "out brake light", or the "parking brake light"?

Yeh, ive heard good stuff on rockauto too - i was looking into buying a sensor i needed from them, should i just go oem? i no these cars are picky... i also need a new suspension!

Ray - yeah he did replace both gaskets, and he got all cutt up in the process.. lol poor guy.

asg14 - it just says "BRAKE" on the dash, im pretty sure its low brake fluid - my brakes are working fine though...

the mechanic who jus did the gaskets and belt for me said he would recommend new brakes instead of just filling up the fluid... he knows i could do the brakes myself so it isnt like he was tryin to get more money outta me...

what do you guys think? new brakes? or jus fill up the fluid some? (the brakes seem to be working fine)

If your mechanic said the brakes were low, I'd have them replaced. Brakes are one thing not to put off. Plus, it makes it easier to do the brakes when the resevoiur is low, lol. Don;t need to take as much fluid out when compressing the caliper piston's.

As for the brake fluid, yeah, any DOT3 is fine. I'd propable just flush the brake fluid out while at it. Just remember when doing that, don't let the fluid int he resevoiur get 100% out of the master cylinder or you have to bleed the brakes for a while do to air.
