Try Velcro. Should work, and is easily removable should you ever need to change out the Break light.

I believe I paid $70.00 for the JL sub, but it was a clearance item, they dont carry it anymore. The link I provided is the closet sub they have to the one I bought, notice the RMS starts at 35 watts

Its not a direct replacement, in some regards it is, but you have to cut out the old OEM sub from it's bracket which is also used to keep the third brake light/speaker grille snapped in place on the rear deck.

the impedance varies, so what happened was during a certain note, or loudness, the impedance went below what the amp was designed for. the suggested VrmsI for the speaker [watts] isn't exactly correct way to match up a speaker to the amp.

Ok i have a 2002 es300. The "sub" in the back says pioneer on the bottom. Does anyone one the specs on the amplifier if there is one? Also, what size is the sub in the back, 8 in?
Is the entire system pioneer? Thanks for the help in advanced!

Can you change out the 8 inch sub with another 8 inch sub if the OHMS are different? The factory is a 10 ohm and all I kind find are 8 ohm?

ya, 8" sub is no good 4 ya, makes lil difference compared to enclosures, i have tried modifying an 8", then with a 10" but it wouldnt fit cuz of my sub box which i rather keep cuz that **** ***** way better
i created a wood template for 10" using the stock 8" plate, it would stick down and the box wouldnt fit cuz i have faced towards the engine with the lil bac door open

Don't understand why you guys are putting so much effort into getting a replacement. Just put a box in the trunk and snip the original sub wire. Also the pen 8" is pathetic lol

Ok So I read through this thread and I still can't figure out what sub works in 97-01 ES's with Pioneer sound systems. I've installed a Pioneer nav unit with alot of add-on's but I've always thought the sub sounded weak. I don't want a box in the trunk, I just want to straight up replace the stock sub with something that gives more bang without frying anything in my car.
