Default Buyback?

Hey Guys,
I just received a letter from an NJ dealer that is offering a potential buyout of my 07 ES. I'm smart enough to know that this is just a gimic to keep you in a Lexus for an extra year or two, but has anyone actually had a positive experience with this? I'm thinking about getting into a GS350. I'm getting bored with the ES.

Your insights are appreciated.

Find out how much are they are going to offer with the buyback. If you really want to move to a GS, then it is worth it getting rid of the ES.

False alarm. Turns out they send the letters out to EVERYONE, and the dealer informed me that there's no way they're going to want an 07 back this soon. Oh well...

Good catch. With the slow economy and slowing new car sales, there will probably be a lot of "creative" offers coming from new car dealers to draw in business.

I get those a lot. Just got one a couple weeks ago from the local Honda dealer about my truck. Well, I assume it's for my truck cuz that's the only Honda I've bought from them. The problem was, whoever did the letter made a data entry error so that the model car they were "inquiring" about was just a jumble of letters.

With a slowing economy, you'd think they'd be more careful with ad resources. And, they'd have the manpower to do quality control checks since there are less customers (was just there for an oil change, you could hear the crickets).

Yeah, this is a way to get you in the door. No dealer is buying back any cars unless they are making a profit.

Long time no hearing from you! Actually, I've been a stranger on this forum too. Either way, I thought you were leasing your ES? If so, you got another year until its over. Regarding GS, I have no complains. At the right time, you better of just buying a year old one (huge depreciation hit in the first year). Just make sure its at least '07 model cause '06 will be a rattling problem bucket
