ok i got a update on my 96es300, i got it back today and they said they replaced the thermostat. they said that was the problem. i drove it to work, then drove it home, to the store, and back home, let it sit for 10 minutes, then drove back to the carwash to vaccumm and i left it running and it didnt overheat, do you think that was the problem?

although, i can hear bubbling sometimes when i slow down at a red light, anybody kno what that could be?

 

I will hear the bubbles when I get home and everyday I check the water Resevoir and It is almost completely empty everyday? do you know what could be causing it?

 

maybe there are air pockets still in the system.

 

I had the same problem. The car would never overheat but I could hear it boiling in the reservoir. When I stopped I could see it running out the overflow tube. I replaced the caps, thermostat and all, but the thing that finally fixed it was replacing the two sensors. One was the temperature sensor for the gauge which did nothing and the other that finally did the trick was the sensor next to the temp gauge sensor called the cold start switch /engine temp sensor. This one tells the ecu what the temp of the motor is and to adjust settings accordingly. Mine was broken by the mechanic who did my timing belt and spark plugs. It was literally snapped in half. It was old and brittle. It might be worth a try replacing it. I got a used one off ebay for 10 bucks and it fixed it right away. Just match it up to the part number and picture. I did a search on Toyota cold start sensor. I got mine from this guy mmccul3797. He puts them up every week so if you dont see one now just wait and he will post one. Hope that helps.
