Doing your own maintenance
I was looking through the ES 350 maintenance schedule and became excited.
My Accord required periodic valve adjustments, replacement of spark plugs, tune-ups, timing belt replacement etc.
The Lexus looks almost maintenance free! I am tempted to do all of it on my own (except brakes). Do any of you skip the dealer and other car places and just do it yourself? Do you document the work in case of a warrantee claim?
Thanks

Like a lot of luxury cars nowadays, it's pretty maintenance free other than the very basics. If you pop open the hood, it's a good thing not much is required cuz they closed up EVERYTHING. It's just one big sea of plastic under there. Annoys me actually cuz I like to visually check the fluids and everything is all covered up now.
I'll do the odd thing myself and hand the rest off to mechanic relatives. Just document it in a log book for warranty purposes.

I do all oil, coolant, brakes, belts, filters, and consumables work myself. In my previous Camry I also changed the timing belt, though the ES has a timing chain so I'm going to have to let a professional handle that.
My records are simply what I've done, the mileage, and date. I do this for keeping track of what's been done for myself more so than for the warranty, but of course it applies to that too.
