Thumbs up

Well done! Those look very nice. I'm very interested to see how the cutoff line works for you in the long run so make sure to post periodic updates.

It seems that I read other folks posting that the 2nd gen projector headlights and HIDs did not work together well because of poor cutoff and high glare.

I'm hoping your purchase and installation and experience proves that wrong. Then there's hope for us.

I wonder what changes Lexus made from the first gen to 2nd generation headlights besides the dark chrome color on the projector area?
Anyone has a 6000k HID first gen es to compare with

I have a '92 but all I have right now is cell phone pics
so it's hard to see.
Here is where I mounted the ballasts:
In front of the battery

In front the the wiper fluid

here's a shot of the light off.

And on.

I'll have to get a night shot later sometime with a digital camera...

You're wanting to compare with this first generation (1989-1991) ES?

Uhhh lol i should have clarified that,,,but:
Es 250's don't have projectors..so nope

I'm talking about the difference between 92-94 projectors and 95-96 projectors.

BTW, it juts occurred to me that back in 92..whoever bought the last 91 es250 for $30,000 must have gotten REALLY pissed off when they saw the 92 es300..

How's that one in front of the battery mounted? Can't really tell, but is it by zip ties?

If you look in front..you see the rod that the top nut clamps down on the battery..
take out the nut and put the bracket you have in.
If you don't have a bracket..use zip ties and wrap abound the rod.

Yep, I agree. I think the design changes made to the 2nd generation ES
from the 1st generation were even more dramatic than the changes made
to the 5th generation compared to the 4th generation. The ES250 was
transformed from a pretty boxy looking car into a sleek and sexy looking ES300.

hope that helps.

It should take you no more than an hour to do.
Where are you from upstate i'm near utica. Did ya decide to do it on valitines day with 30" if snow LOL. Has anyone tried doing this on the gen 3 es300. Also don't be hattin on the Es250's some of us have owned some. They may be a box but it helped make Lexus what it is

No offense intended. The ES250 was a great car and like you say,
it paved the way for all of its successors' successes, including the IS
and the GS. But you'll have to admit, there were a lot of changes for the
better incorporated into the 2gen ES.

None taken just gotta stick up for my first car. I agree I would be pissed tho if I bought it new and 2 years later the es300 came out.

I did it last year. I don't live upstate anymore. Spend 2 years there. I used to goto SUNY Morrisville. The town is called morrisville.......in the middle of nowhere....the entire town had 2 traffic lights and population was prolly less than the people going to the college. Upstate NY was nice in a way but it was way too cold and boring for my asian ***. Now i'm back home in nyc.

Just so you know, I'm not hatting on the 250.......just showing love for my 93.
