Default Need some help!!!

My mom has a 1993 ES300 and the lights one the gauges are slowly going out. Half of gauges have light the other half does not. Does anyone know what is causing this and how to fix it?

Another question I have is that when she turns on the AC her car makes a really loud humming noise. I know it is suppose to make some noise but this is way too loud to be normal. Anyone know what the problem is?

Thanks

Cool

Search.
The backlights can be changed. The needles, either do something yourself with an LED, send the gauge cluster to be rebuilt by O.L.T. for around $200, or buy new needles @ Lexus for around $180-200 a pop.

The compressor bearing may be going out, the A/C compressor / alternator belt may be worn, or needing tightening.

If it's the orange gauge needles that are flickering or burnt out, check out this thread:

If it's the gauge backlighting that's going out, then those are just 8 bulbs that you can replace at a reasonable price.

Is there a DIY for the backlighting? How much do you mean by a "reasonable price?"

Is this the same for a 1993 LS400?

There are tons of threads concerning the backlighting - do a search and you should be able to find info on how to do the bulb replacements - I did. I replaced the backlighting bulbs with LEDs for about $25 but if you want to just replace the burnt out bulbs with new incandescent bulbs it should be even cheaper than that.
Not sure about the 1993 LS400 - don't own one.
