Default 02 ES300 Subwoofer problem

Hi there, I'm new to the forum and posting this on behalf on my Dad who doesn;t speak english. He just bought a beautiful 2002 ES300 only 36k miles. Everything runs and works perfectly except the subwoofer doesn;t seem to work and at times sort of makes "crackling" noise.

I did a search on several keywords but was not able to find a good match. Any advice on how to pinpoint the problem(amp or sub speaker) OR how and what to replace it with is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

most likely the previous owner worn out/blew it. for the amount of money to replace a factory sub from lexus, you could get a very powerful aftermarket speaker/sub. just take it to BestBuy and the computer they have can tell you exactly what you need. good luck

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, there is no BestBuy on the island where he lives. I'll have to check it here (NC) and send him the parts to have it installed there.

Any suggestions on the best way to do this? Anyone have a parts list of what would be an equivalent aftermarket replacement.

One thing I forgot to say is that he has a Mark Lev system.

Thanks again
