Default Sealing Headlight

Ive cleared the headlights on my 98 es. Does anyone know if there is a certain silicon I should use, or will a general silicon from ace hardware or something work? The stock silicon seems harder than rock and Ive never used a silicon from a hardware store that gets that hard. Thanks

I would probably use black silicone to match with the color of the old silicone. I don't think it really matters what kind of silicone to use, but to be on the safe side I would pick the silicone used for sealing windshield glass. It should give you good holding results.

Black silicone is your best bet,cuz it has a higher temp range ,so it won't crumble in time.Don't buy the one for home use.It sucks.

Cool

I always re-use the stock glue like most people. Once cool, I just calk a bead of GE II silicon around it.

Thanks alot guys for your help i used Permatex clear rtv silicone in combination with what stock sealant was still there ( after cooking it like muffins, lol, it heated up and was reuseable). The adhesion is rock hard!

Cool

Barring you don't cut much away every time you open them - the nasty OEM stuff is great!
