Correct. Thats the rumor.

I think you are thinknig of the MotorTrend mag. They say it will be replaced by the FT-SX concept. I think that was the SUV looking model. IMO that should be the Highlander replacement, but we shall see what happens.

If they discontinue the Solara, then please give us a real RWD Toyota coupe. Thats how I feel about this situation.

Anyway, back to MODIFICATIONS for the ES350!!

The only modding I have done is: No front plate, rear trunk debadging, tinting and replacing rear tail-pipe tips with Borla tips. The Borla tips are shinier and have less of an angle shape. They look better IMHO. I had the tips extended out about an inch on the top. You will notice that the stock tips don't come out all the way on the bumper cut-out. They are in, about an inch.

I'm thinking about installing Camry SE springs and shocks., but not the sway bars. I'd like to have the car ride a little firmer and lower, but not IS firmness. The SE springs are 10mm lower and the shocks are valved a little stiffer. I still need to look at both suspensions and make sure all the measurememnts match up.

If you have a NAV system here is a MOD you might consider. Enabling the NAV System Features When Driving

Bought the Borla Tips # 20153 from cardomain. Removed the attached clamps. After cutting off the OEM tips, we found a pipe that would fit snugly Over the OEM tail pipe and fit snugly Inside the Borla tip. Then extended the Borla tip so that the top end of the tip would line up with the cut-out in the bumper. Top of tip extends about one inch more than stock.

That would be it, nothing else. Well, maybe some stereo upgrades. I'd have to see what the factory system sounds like. I didn't turn it on when I test drove the car.
Hate to be the one to tell you but the base sound system sucks. (See my thread "ES 350 Base Sound System"). I also assumed that a Lexus would have a decent system but I was sorely disappointed. However, I love everything else about the car. I't just a mystery that a Lexus would have such a system - that's not even as good as the Camry JBL - it's beyond ridiculous.

The only thing I hate so far about the base sound system is the tone control!

Why should a user have to navigate a friggin' menu to turn the bass up/down or turn the treble up/down????
It's simply ridiculous. To constantly be navigating when going back and forth between voice and music!

Sheeeshh, even my old Camry had a dedicated tone control ****!

I'm no longer considering one. I had one for 2 weeks as a loaner. Not only does the sound system suck, there are other issues that make it persona non-grata for me....whatever that means. Don't like it. Like the way it looks but that's all. That's not enough.

The stock system on the ES350 is far from garbage, its loud and crispy clear. At least mine is, iam more than happy with it!
