My pushbutton key remote only works when I'm about 5 feet from the car. Is this normal or do I need to replace the battery?

 

i read in one of my manuals that they dont have much distance for security. lol who knows if thats accurate or not though.

 

sounds to me like a bettery issue....mine easily works 30 feet away from the vehicle...if not more.

 

the 97-01 Es's are different than the 92-96 Es. Mine only works five feet away from the car also. Sometimes when I hit the button the first time it won't unlock. Anyone know how to extend the reach of the antenna? You see me doing a force wave to the car so it will unlock.

i agree and same here after changing the battery. the range increased significantly (i.e. back to normal) vs the old original battery in my 95ES key remote. radio shack carries the batteries for about $3 and will change it out for you for free.
