Edmunds is always smoking crack. Don't trust them for anything. They likely do crap with a stop watch by hand. Bigtime variances VS other "professional" reviews.

You're testing a bad shifting, many ratio, stock automatic VS a M/T. Count .7-1.0 of a second off the 1/4 mile time depending on how bad of a launch the A/T has. (I.E.Bad...)
While the 1mz is going to be getting 163.8whp, the bmw should be getting more around 182.5whp down also.

Why are you comparing an ES to a 330ci?

 

well they had similar weight and horespower
the only thing that could have made a difference imo was the transmission
but i didnt think taht would mean almost 2 seconds slower for teh es

You can see there is... Large differences in horsepower during first gear alone that will translate into large improvements in 0-60 time.


You're looking at substantually more power transmitted, faster shifts etc.

In the end it's not even in the ballpart. The BMW is running what it should. The ES is running what it should.
1/4 time around 14.8s = 6-6.5s 0-60 time.
1/4 mile time around 16s = 7.5-8.1s.
