I can't wait till the new ES comes out and I'm curious to what the engine's displacement will be? That will the deciding factor of the name going back to the ES250, ES300, ES 330 and what's the next designation? Will it also be FWD or RWD?

Hmm from where did you gather it's the direct-injection version? I don't think anyone knows for sure yet.

Cool

THEY ARE FORCED to build the ES & Windoms as they do the Camry. The Camry is getting the <typo> 2GR-FE. There-hence-forth all ES/Windoms (& later highlander/RX/rav's etc) are forced into using the same engines. The only real question for the entire powertrain that has not been answered - or is not obvious - is what hybrid drive system will they offer when they offer one?

Will they use the i4 system out of the Camry, or a v6 system mated to the 2gr-fe. Most likely it will be the i4, but nothing stops them from using the v6...

192bhp hybrid sounds good till the turtle of death light shows up.

Hmm my original question was regarding how you knew the new ES will get the 2GR-FSE and not the 2GR-FE. From your response I believe the "S" in your previous post was just a typo, in which case I would totally agree with (that the new ES will get the 2GR-FE).

It's the 3.5 2GR-FE, no doubt about it...

I highly doubt Lexus will offer an All Wheel Drive for the new ES 350 but we can always make a suggestion to Lexus. It would be cool if Lexus did offer it though.

Will the ES350 be unveiled at the NAIAS in Detroit in January?

Thats so stupid if they unveil in february instead of january.

why?

well for one thign the new camry is making its debut in detroit. Both cars are coming out pretty much the same time as well..around late february..early march of 06 as 07 models.

Both are the same car just dressed up differently.

And why show the model ever so late?...2-3 weeks before its official launch date. doesnt make sense.

The next generation ES is shrouded in mystery. We've all seen what the next generation Camry looks like but nothing on the new ES.

The reasons for the different dates are the LS is the big thunder for Lexus and Detroit is THE show in N. America, thus the LS debuts first even though it doesn't go on sale till the Fall. Lexus won't want to blow all the fireworks in one show so they'll spread the debuts around, it keeps the hype alive longer. The ES is better suited for a second tier show like Chicago.

We have seen a few "spy shots" of the ES.....
