Whats up cialz That would be pushing it I mean I used to have 18x8.5 with 235/40/18 and it rubbed alot even with the fender lips shaved I now have 18x8 with a 40 offset and and 225/40/18 tire and a 1.6 inch drop, it is perfect, my cousin has the same size rim and tire his fender lips aren't shaved and his car is dropped 1.6 also and his car only rubs in the back when he has his car loaded down in the back while making a fast turn which you shouldn't do anyways so if you want to be safe go with the same set up any other questions let me know,

Whats crackin cialz yes you can put a 225 width tire on an 8.5" width rim, I used toi have 225 on a 8.5" rim and was very unhappy I was so because the tire will not fill out the whole width of the rim , my rim stuck out past the tire on each side exposing the the rim which led to me getting scratches on my rim so it is up to you you can do it I did but I ended up selling my tires after like two months I mean it looks like the tire was streching to tire to fill out the width of the rim I didn't feel comfortable knowing that my rim was exposed on the sides like that making it more vulnerable to potholes etc. so yes you can do it and you would probably be okay if you only drop it one inch, if you get the fender lips shaved then you would be alright for sure so it is up to you just sharing my experience I have made a lot of mistakes while trying to make my car better and I have learned from them and now I have the perfect wheel/tire, lowered suspension setup, just think about it and holla if you need any more help, anything I can do just ask,
