Default 15K Service

My ES330 will need 15K service with a month. I have checked other forum and all different depends on where you look. According to service manual for 15k serivce most of the stuffs are I and only a few things need to get replace. One of the expensive one is tran fluid change. Service manual says Inspect very 36K and Replace every 72K. Does ES330 need to have Tran fluid change at 15k? What is really needed for 15K without breaking my piggy bank?

My understanding is a drain and fill of the transmission fluid is reasonable as a lub service at any Toyota dealer. You need to use Toyota Type-IV fluid, four quarts. Easy as an oil change..

I follow the maintenance schedule in my owners handbook. If you follow that, you'll find that dealers do a lot of unnecessary work that's not in the schedule that Lexus Corporation set.
I tell Lexus service exactly what I want done on my car.

That's exactly what I want just do what owner's manual says no more no less. But I saw most 15K service including tran fluid change. Just wondering is there something that I don't know about ES330's Transmission? I have 135K on my 97 Avalon, I only replace trans fluid @ every 30K service. Also how about cabin filter? How often do I have to replace it? Looks like every 20K.

You can do the entire 15k service yourself in the driveway and save lots of bucks.

The oil and filter changed is easy if you have done them before, just were long sleeves as the filter is just under the exhaust manifold in front.

The tranny fluid service the dealership will perform is a simple drain and fill which you can do for less than $20 and it is easier than the oil and filter change. Here is a thread that I made complete with pictures for the 2002 ES. The 2005 should be no different.
2002+ ES Tranny Drain and Fill
you may have to log in to see the pictures

complete the 15k service with a rotation of your tires, change the cabin filter and air filter, top off the brake and PS fluids, and wash and vacuum the car.

have a donut and coffee and your done.
