front end mask
Anybody have any thoughts or opinions on front end masks. I was seriously considering putting one on my 2000. My hood has chips in it from all the highway driving I do (i would say 85% of the driving I do is highway) So my easiest solution I think would be to put the mask on. However I work on motorcycles too and when I see people who have put a bra on the gas tank it always leaves a faint white line in the paint (probably from uv rays) where the bra ends on the tank basically ruining the paint job on the tank. If it loked good with the bra on I would keep it that way but if not I could take it on and off seasonally. I just need some opinions maybe even pics if somebody has some.
Not many here have a mask or bra on their ES........it dosen't look good on the car at all. The other choice is a 'clear' type of film that goes on the front end & hood of the car that is installed once & you leave it there. The 2 most popular are either from 3M or LLumar.........they are not cheap mind you (price variesdepending on the place you get it installed). LLumar is a better product & lasts longer than the 3M stuff. I considered the llumar product, until I found out the price!
I just bought a bottle of touch up paint for about $4 & that was the end of that lol.
Good Luck!

Good advice - I ended up going for the touch up paint pen from Lexus myself ! I got to speak with some vendors selling the 3M product at the AutoShow in Toronto recently. The price quoted for doing the whole front end of the car including entire bumper, headlights and hood was about $1000 Cdn. It definitely wears well but I'd be more inclined to get the service performed on a brand new vehicle.
