Default 2003 es300 key problem

got a new key to replace lost keys on our 2003 es300. key turns in door and ignition but programming doesn't work so key can't be used.

i am following programming for 2002 to either delete all other keys other than my one good key (gas pedal 6 times and brake 5 times) or to add a key (gas pedal 5 times and brake pedal 6 times) but nothing is working.

is the 2003 programming different than the 2002 programming. this is driving me nuts.

thanks

turns out i was trying to program a new master from a valet key. eventually got a master working ok by swapping out the key innards with a broken remote that worked. . apparently my car needs the 'c' programming method.

i didn't write down what the guy told me but i think to get the remote working it was key in and out twice, door open, do electric locks 5 cycles, door closed then open, do electric locks 5 cycles, master key in ignition, turn to on (not start) move key to off, take key out, locks should cycle once, then hit open/close buttons on remote for 1 second and then close button for 2 seconds.

if i didn't forget any steps, that was the way it went. the key in and out twice at the beginning was different than anything i have read.
