Cool

I have no idea. If you want something easy to try, reset the ECU. Normaly you do this by pulling the EFI fuse for 10 seconds with the car off. If that doesn't get it, pull the negative battery terminal from the battery & then pull the fuse.

If the car runs funny for a little while no worries, it has to readjust.

This has been discussed before in the other Lexus model forums.

Many 2004 Toyota and Lexus models have a new reminder light which is the MAINT REQ'D light which is ONLY an oil change reminder light. This light goes on at 5k intervals and can be easily reset on your own. THIS IS NOT CONNECTED TO THE ECU nor will it affect performance.

All this info on how to reset the light is located in your owners manual. I would suggest you consult that because it is a wealth of information. I myself have an 04 IS300 that has this same light.

Not sure with the 04 ES but with the IS and most other models, you must hold the tripmeter button down before startup...and hold it down as you turn the key from the OFF position to the ON position. The odometer will flash to zero and the light will blink then turn off. As soon as the odometer flashes zero, it means the maint req'd light was sucessfully reset.

Good Luck.

Look at it this way. If you don't know what you're talking about, don't suggest unless you really know.

On my '97 accord, there is a small hole beside the light and you just stick your key in there to reset it. Pretty neat.
