Default Replace in pair or not

Just found out that my front driver side cv boot was torn, might been driving like that for awhile now. Looking to replace the axel myself. Should I be replacing both axel or only one since the other one seems to be normal. I'm also replacing the inner tie rod on the front passenger side since it have side to side play and I can see the tie rod moving in and out, the driver side is fine. Should I also be replacing them on both sides?
The car is a **** box as in everything is worn, paint, seat, plastic, wood, etc. so not looking to pour a bunch of money in. Will maybe keep the car for like 3 more years and then junk it.

Only replace the one that's failed. No sense in replacing the other if it's fine

CV axles are independent of other axles, including tie rods and ball joints. Not so for such items as struts and brakes, although brakes are independent, one would want the pads to wear evenly. The key word is independent.

Good to ask.

I did one at time about 20K miles apart. No issues.
