Hi everyone, I have a 2003 Lexus es300 with 206000.
My biggest question is it interference or non interference engine?
Conflicting reports are confusing. Is there a way to inspect the belt
without taking it apart? It was replaced at 60000 by a previous owner.
Please help before it’s too late. I sunk $1700 in it since Oct. 22 and Im
retired and don’t want to buy another car. LLL GLCorl
Here is a thread on that topic. Belts can be difficult to diagnose, no one will be able to give you an accurate estimate on how long it will last, not only that, it's usually the tensioner that gives out first. Belts should be replaced each 80,000 miles by the maintenance schedule, they do last longer than that, but you are asking for trouble running it longer.
The short answer is that the new belt, even as just a precaution, will cost you a lot less in both money and sanity than trying your luck in the middle of the highway or on unprotected left, as in those cases it won't make a difference, the engine will cut out, and you will still have to replace it anyway.
