Default Need ES expert opinion...(Possible purchase of ES)

I found a 97 ES300 with 47,000 miles on it...He has all service records, and is the original owner of the car back in 1996....He saids it has never been in a accident, hit or body work...It is totally immaculate condition...He is asking 12,743 for it...Is this the correct price...? What should I offer him? I was thinking of throwing out a number like 11,500 and I'll negotiate from there...

you may have a hard time negotiating with an original owner with low miles (that's always been my experience) but 12700 is alot for that car. 11500 is very reasonable. I bought my 98 in mint condition with 80k for 9700 for reference

Dennis, run the numbers through vehix.com, kbb.com, nada.com and edmunds.com and see what comes up for that year and mileage. Always through in you low bid and work up.

Is this to be a second car. A potential 7th es for the next Northeast CL meet. Doug is gonna faint.

That's actually a great price for a car with that mileage, especially if it's indeed in immaculate condition (one owner, all records, etc.) I know the Lexus dealerships around me would want at least $15K for that car.

Just curious, what color is it? I love the Oyster (grayish silver with just a hint of gold) color from that era, and the indigo blue is awesome, too (my neighbor had an indigo '98 ES (gorgeous car), but he decided to go with an Infiniti I35 when his lease ran out a couple of years ago)

A very (high maintenance) color...Black in black...

It's from a old rich guy from the upper east side of Manhattan...I haven't seen the car yet and only have spoken to the owner...I'll probably offer him 11.5k first and I'll work from there...

I'm only doing my friend a favor, she owes me an arm and a leg...

I know all too well--that's what color combination my '96 is Nothing can compare when it's clean, but it looks terrible covered in salt in February.

or u could check out an es at lexus of massapequa and ask for anthony cuccino to give u a good price i bet for around $15 u can get a low mileage 98 or 99 fully loaded with 3yr/60k warranty. and sometimes they have special days where the finance rate is like 3 or 4% for pre-owed vehicles. one nice thing about lexus dealers is they go to great lenghts to provide customer satisfaction, even w/ a pre-owned vehicle. besides offering u coffee every hour, they also clean the car in and out and re-paint the bumpers if there were scratches.
