1995 es300 140,000miles o/d light flashing
I’ve been noticing my transmission slipping when trying to go into 4th gear (problem that’s been happening for a few weeks now) but today I’ve only driven it for a a few minutes and noticed poor performance in 1st and 2nd and then noticed my o/d light flashing. Was suggested on a transmission fluid change. Any suggestions before I take it to the shop?

Hello,
What do you mean by poor performance?
It is very difficult to diagnose a transmission without actually seeing it, so definitely take to a shop as soon as possible. Start with trying to pull up the fault codes, see what you can come up with. Then try dropping the pan to see how clean the oil and the filter are, and go from what you will see in there. If the fluid is mildly dirty, try doing a couple of drain and fills with some interval between them to see if that will help, but if the fluid is really bad or smells burnt, you will be up for some trouble..
One indirect way of telling how transmission is doing is by wiping a dipstick, those gray traces that are left on the towel are the by-products of a transmission aging. Any transmission will have it, but the worse it is, the more wear a transmission has.
Hope this helps and best of luck!
