Default Lug nuts, wheels help!🤪

My new to me 98 es300 came with these wheels 17" first pic. The ride was terrible so I went down to the 16"from an 03 second pic. What lug nuts do I order? The ones on the 17s are to dang long and stick out and look well yuk 3rd pic

. Would an acorn type lug work?

Hello,

The nut on the last photo seems like a standard Toyota/Lexus lug nut. In case of a 2000 Lexus ES300, the nut is 47mm tall. A nut with the closed end has to be this tall, since otherwise it won't clear the studs.
With that, you technically can use opened nuts, but I would argue against that, since that will leave your studs exposed. Those nuts are designed for cars with wheel covers.

The thread for the stud is M12x1.5, you can probably find some aftermarket solutions. Do not look for standard nuts, they don't have a bevel on the end to center the wheel, it should specifically say that it is a lug nut. And also, do not look for some cheap eBay ones either, there is quite a bit of responsibility laying on them.

Hope this helps and best of luck!

Look for lug nuts from a 4th or 5th gen ES. I noticed my 5th gen lug nuts are shorter than my 3rd gen, so that should do the trick for you.

Hey guy's a few more pictures. The shorter lug is from my 2015 Prius. It looks to be the exact same size but the outside is not as long. I put it on the es300 they seem to fit. I mean same threads same depth that screws in. What do ya think? I went to AutoZone today explained I wanted shorter lugz so the outside wouldn't stick so much out from the rim. He really didn't understand. I did have the old log thats to long. A few pics are attached. Let me know what your think. the lugs sticking out are from the 17 in Lexus wheels I believe from a 330 that were on the car when I bought it

Thank you so much! Funny thing is that is the same part for my Prius! That makes me feel a lot better!

I am going to remove the bigger lug on the car and measure the stud. Just to make sure it's not a longer stud. This is a new to me car so who knows. Want to cover all bases before ordering lol!
