Faulty Instrument Cluster
Have a Check Engine light that is caused by a faulty instrument cluster. I am told that my local Lexus dealer says this part is no longer available. My mechanic is going to send it to an outside shop for repair (hopefully). Is this true? Does Lexus not support these cars anymore? If this problem cannot be fixed, my 2006 car (in beautiful condition with only 40,000 miles on it) can never again pass a smog test and will become undriveable!

If available the cluster is $800 online

Need more info what exactly is the problem with the cluster? There are plenty of used ones on Ebay for around $100.

Really weird problem. The code was PO500 - Speed Sensor "A". Speed sensor signal OK to ABS module and instrument cluster. Intermittently no signals from instrument cluster to engine computer. Shipped to repair facility where the problem could not be duplicated on the bench. Unit returned and replaced in vehicle. Check Engine Light did not come back on! Fingers crossed at this point ...
