Cigarette Lighter as dedicated bluetooth power
Did some searching and couldn't find anyone who tried this.
Currently I have aftermarket aux in my 05 es330 with the pac unit.
from the pac unit i have rca's running to Anker soundsync bluetooth receiver.
I ran power extension down to the 12v power in the center console.
Here's where my problem is, there is a bad humming/buzzing from ground loop between head unit and 12v power in console.
I have an aftermarket amp and sub in the trunk, so I am not willing to sacrifice low end SQ by using isolator (which i've tried 2)
So I finally got to thinking and got some ideas from google, In theory to eliminate this ground loop problem why don't I re-ground a dedicated power source.
As I never use the cigarette lighter, I am thinking about disconnecting the power wire, cutting the usb power from my bluetooth receiver and splicing them directly.
Last thing to do is find a new ground spot away from the radio's ground and hope this gets rid of the loop and the terrible humming above 30 volume.
Any reccomendations as to why i should or shouldn't do this?

I don't see why splicing onto the cig lighter would fix anything.

I believe his point is that the splicing is irrelevant; it’s the grounding that mught get you relief.
