When this happens, there are only 2 ways to get the door open, and only one works 100% of the time. A locksmith can get the door open. The other method is to take a pry bar, wrap it in a towel, and pry up on the end of the door at the bottom (the end by the handle). 50% of the time, you won't scratch paint/damage metal, and it will pop the door open. (note, it will NOT work, if the door locks are engaged). The other 50% of the time, you bend the bottom of the door or tear up the rocker panel and it doesn't work.
Me personally, I would go with the locksmith.

Me too!!
I am having the same problem, only it's BOTH front doors (and a 96 ES300). I look ridiculous climbing in and out of my back doors, but not driving the car is not an option.
My question is, what is a locksmith going to do to get in? I am DIY by necessity here, so whatever the locksmith would do, I'd like to try.
A slim jim won't work for mine specifically, the rods are out of their plastic doohickeys at the latch end (said doohickeys are probably toast from the AZ sun), so they're pretty much un-catchable with the slim jim.
Thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Unbolt, slide the doors forward a bit, go to the back of the door where the catch is, stick a flathead screwdriver in between the doors (gap will be bigger now) and release the catch. Have a friend handy to catch the door, because it will at that point fall off in your hands.
