So I know there have been post after post about this and im sure ive done one or two myself but I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions what I should do to fix the Driver door not unlocking with automatically on my 1996 es300?

To be clear, the door locks and unlocks fine with a key or by hand. my issue is with the keyless entry and door lock/unlock button inside the car.

my key works (from a short distance, haven't looked into it further) to unlock my RR/FR/RL doors on my car, but not the Front Left drivers door. I know the actuator motor is not working because i've taken the whole mechanism out of the door.


Is there anything short of buying the part for $250, installing it myself or going to a shop and paying a ballbusting $800 for their 'Expertise' to replace the actuator that I can do?


I was wondering if the actuator motor is the same for all the doors in the 96' es300. or at least the Front Right one?
I know the mechanism is different, and that's not what i mean. but the Motor itself is replaceable. wondering if its the same in any of the doors.


I have kept my eye on ebay but anything that pops up there for less than $150 with the title '1992-1996 es300 Front Left/Driver Door lock actuator' is gone within the day.




So does anyone have a good website or know of a cheap-ish under $100 fix for this?





Also, Anyone know why my key unlock doesnt work unless im standing ontop of my car or push it to my head?
I thought it could be a bad ground in the reciever/antanna but haven't had a chance to search for it and don't know the location.
