2001 Es 300 CEL and TRAC OFF Lights; Code P0300, P0301, P0302
As usual, car running fine one day and the next I am getting a lot of random RPM fluctuations, very jerky engine performance at low speeds (<30mph) and the Check Engine and TRAC OFF notification lights illuminated.
Got the codes checked and sure enough the Multiple misfire P0300 as well as P0301, P0303, P0305.
I recently checked my battery and got a low Volt/ replace soon reading. After the symptoms listed above I replaced my battery and the problem seemed to be fixed, the car started right up, no notification lights showing and the car seemed to run like its normal bad *** self.
I wait till the next day and take it for about a 30min drive, the same lights listed above show up again and I start to get the same jerky engine action. I take the negative terminal off of the battery and replace and the car seems to be running fine again for now.
I plan on getting the spark plugs and possible coil pack replaced this week in an attempt to remedy the problem.
Am I on the right track? Is there anything I am missing? Any input is appreciated.
Cheers

Next step would be to get your alternator tested. Don't blindly throw parts at the problem.

Replace bank one oil control valve (OCV) and clean the bank one oil control valve filter. You have classic symptoms of a bad OCV except for a missing solenoid error message.
I thought about this some more and another possibility could be a vacuum leak.

I would guess against the oil control valve or a coil pack simply because it's on both banks. I'd think the alternator is a more likely culprit. Check the voltage at the battery with the engine running (especially if it's running poorly.) If you get less than 13.1 volts then the alternator needs replacing. Once voltage dips below 11.5 volts the digital electronics in the car begin to malfunction.
If it were limited to one bank I would think oil control valve or one cylinder a coil pack. Your codes correspond to multiple misfire, misfire cyl 1 and misfire cyl 2.
