Performance Air Intake for 2002 Lexus ES300
So I own a 2002 Lexus ES300 and I wondered if a performance air intake would benefit me at all?
And If so what is a good brand of air intake?
Thanks!

The stock CAI in the ES is tuned to be quiet and efficient. The 1MZ-FE isn't a powerhouse but there are aftermarket intake kits for it (Weapon-R). It'll be faux-faster because of the more aggressive sound but you might even lose power. Don't throw a pod filter on the end of the intake hoses. Sure it'll be loud but you will lose power when you suck in that hot engine bay air.
Moral of the story is that the ES is an entry level luxury sedan. It's not a sports car and it won't win races unless your opponent isn't trying. It gets the people on this forum where they need to go in a comfortable manner.
I went through this phase, too. Lurking in forums for successful intake mods, searching for a more open exhaust, I almost put a pod filter in my wheel well. Then I stepped back and thought this car is essentially a luxury Camry there's a lot more I could do that could serve me much better than a louder intake and exhaust. I, like many on this forum, recommend you to spend your money elsewhere. Like better speakers, a decent sub and amp, HID retrofitting, LED overhaul, things that will yield tangible results.
But it if you want to throw on a pod filter and get that mean V6 growl every time you hit 3k, go right ahead. Enjoy your car but don't waste money.
If you you want a fast Lexus, look into an IS or GS.
