Default Replacing Knock Sensors. What else should I do while there?

I am needing to replace my knock sensors on my car since I am getting a P0330 code. I plan on buying the parts soon, but know there are some gaskets that need replaced. I am looking for a parts list that I should buy and change out while I am at it. I have a 2000 ES300 PE with 77k miles on it. Here is my plan so far:

knock sensors (x2)
knock sensor harness
gaskets? (not sure which ones I need)
spark plugs?

Any other suggestions? Any tips or tricks for this project will also be greatly appreciated. I am no mechanic, but I have done a bit of work on cars. Biggest job I have done was the head gaskets on a 2001 Subaru 2.5RS or the passenger axle on this Lexus. Thank you for your time and suggestions.

Just a heads up. Make sure you get Lexus/Toyota original knock sensors. After market ones are seldom compatible. So you may end up doing the job twice.

yea it's denso.

I would also change out the harness that connects to the sensor's. Like you said, i would do the rear valve cover gasket (and the front one of course, even though you're still under 100K).

Hi... haven't been on here in a while but been chasing down p0171 codes and then popped a 325 and 330 which I've dealt with before... so no problem... my question is, is there a difference between knock sensor part #89615-12090 and knock sensor part #89615-12040? I've always found everything i need here... I know the answer is out there... thanks in advance

Not the same part 12040 does not change up to anything.
89615-12040 (08/1996 - 07/1999)
89615-12090 (08/1999 - )

Best to call a dealer and give them your VIN to make sure you get the right part number.

I'm thinking if my 99 was manufactured in 08/98 that the 12040 is the correct part... But as advised I will check with the vin... thank you very much

Replace the bypass hose. Get it from the dealer.

Bypass hose, harness, gaskets and there's a PCV valve I accidently snapped off. After getting elbow deep in mine, I wished I had picked up replacement wires for the rear coil packs - they looked pretty rough. It's a lot of work to get back in there.

If you get it put back together and it runs rough, it may be the second ground that is right up against the firewall - it's a major PITA to take off and a major PITA to get back on - make sure it's tight as you close things up.

Plan on this taking at least half a day... make sure the kids are squared away and your SO is ready to leave you alone.
