Default 2001 es300 constantly misfiring

I have a 2001 es300 I just bought and about the third day after buying it I noticed it was idling rough as all hell and while driving on the freeway it would slow down and I'd press on the gas and it would jerk back into gear, and would do it constantly. Quite annoying. Took it to Autozone and they said I had misfires in cylinders 2, 4, and 6. Replaced spark plugs (Which it needed) and still idling rough. Replaced the ignition coils, bam. Drives better and idles at about 700-800 rpm after warm up, drove smooth on the freeway. After a week it started having a small rough idle and started doing the same thing on the free way and check engine light would go back to blinking again. I cannot for the life of me figure it out, so I was hoping you guys could give me some light on the subject. I'm pretty sure I wasted money on coils, because I don't see three coils going bad at the same time..Bad spark plug wires? Bad vvti sensor? Please help. Lol.

Yup. Next bet is the spark plug wires. And it might not be a bad idea to run an engine cleaner through the gas tank like BG44k.

Are spark plug wires just a common problem in these Lexus'? All my symptoms seem to fit a faulty vvt solenoid.. I just looked at them earlier and I saw the rear vvt solenoid wire harness was duct taped to the solenoid keeping it plugged in. So if I had to take a guess by the duct tape I'd say the solenoids may need replacing maybe?

You don't have spark plug wires.

Probably the Oil control valve (OCV). Common problem as the mileage goes over 100K. Bank two is easy. It can be done by a novice, usually, in 15 minutes.

Any error codes besides the misfires on bank 2?

Spend some money and get an OBD II reader. Then you can check for errors. If you drive an older car it'll come in handy more than once.

I never saw a code from the second failure. What code did it throw?

Also check the Fuel Pressure Regulator.

I was chasing a annoying mis-fire issue, replaced parts then one day notice the FPR was wet with gas. Swapped, no more mis-fires.

Take care on BG44K and Techron additive, Great stuff if car is new but older cars it eats the older rubber components.
