I attempted this conversion in my 1999 ES300. The climate control in the wood grain cars is different from the climate control in the non-wood grain years. Everything plugged in, but my A/C wouldn't turn on. I had to swap back to original. I did a face lift with the wood grain only and it worked fine. As for the radio...I had no luck. It requires some re-wiring and I haven't found anything to walk me through the job. I've found wood grain steering wheels but none with the correct color to match interior.

i skimmed through the thread but have you considered looking into headers? i've seen a few sets on ebay, that should help you with your acceleration.
