Well driving on the highway today a rock flew and hit my window i was only going 50 mph! Now there is a spider web crack thing on my winshield. Its a tiny one, but does anybody have any experience in using products to fix it or prevent it from spreading!? Thanx in advance!
before looking into one of those products, check with your insurance company. You don't indicate where you are from in your profile and insurance laws are different in each state. For example, in MA, I am eligible for a free windshield replacement if the current one is not safe due to pits, cracks and spiders. I also have no deductable for glass.
second, call around to a few autoglass shops and see what they use.
lastly, do a search on "glass repair", there were several threads on this subject a few months back. One even states a product that was very good your current predicament.
if there is a spider crack there is no way to fix it
it there is a bullet or bullseye( a round layering hole)
then you can buy a repair kit that fills it with acrylic
or take it to a glass shop for about 50 dollars
Yeah i just had that happen to my car and i got my insurance company to pay for the replacment 100%. If you have liability then you should be ok. Just a headz up.
I have a chip in my windshield too. Had it fixed, but it still never cured all the way so it doesn't look that great. I don't care though, so I just live with it. What sucks is that it's right above my eye's line of sight in the center of the windshield.

You can get it filled with a liquid plastic filler you can buy at the autoparts store...or have it done right professionally (best results). If the crack has gone beyond a certain length...you usually cannot fill the crack...so you will have no choice but to get the whole windshield replaced.
Had the same thing a few days ago, a spider crack. Called Harman glass (I think they're national) and they came to my work and fixed it. You can still see the dot where the rock hit, but that's it. It was $60, and yes in most cases insurance will pay for it so they dont have to replace the windshield later. But do you want to file a claim for $60 that is bound to go on your record and cause an increase in insurance rates later on?
I think if your damage is in driver's line of view, you have to replace the windshield. If not, you can repair it.
