'99 ES with 145k.

Wasn't charging at idle. Alternator tested bad on the car. Changed Alternator.

Not charging at idle. Checked alternator in machine at Autozone, tested good, swapped anyway for a new one. Same problem.

Battery is 7 months old. Got it charged and tested good at Walmart.

So, my alternator and battery are good. If my ac, lights and radio are on, 11ish volts, will die in a few mins at idle. Rev it slightly and 12.4v (better).

Good voltage at idle with nothing on.

I relize this post is like 8yrs old and may or may not be part of this forum any more. But i am currently having the exact issue with my 96 ls400 and curious if you recall what ended up being the issue?

Hello,

Here is a thread about troubleshooting the charging system.

From the OP post, it seems like he had excessive load on the system, or a bad contact somewhere, but it is hard to know for sure as there is little change he is still around.
