I have a 2003 es300, I looked in the trunk and didnt see any amp

To my knowledge all Lexus vehicles come with an amplifier (unsure before 3ES)... Better question would be where is it located. That depends on what your setup is. If you have mark levinson (w/ or w/o navigation) your amp is located in the trunk on the right side. If you have regular premium sound system, your amp is located behind the glove box to the right. This only applies to the 4th generation ES. Other generations may vary locations.

I have an '04 non-mark Levinson. The stock amp is pretty good for speakers. I put a separate amp in the trunk to run a boxed 10" sub and disconnected the stock sub. With the stock amp still driving the door speakers, I'm no audiophile but a pretty good budget setup (with aftermarket head unit as well)
