Double DIN navigation installed into 2002 ES300: speed, reverse wire question
Hey CL, so i installed a double DIN Sony XNV-660BT into 2002 ES300 yesterday (yay!) and i have a wiring question:
I have to hook up a reverse camera (located over the license plate) and hence i need to wire the head unit to the reverse wire so that it knows when to view the camera. Can anyone confirm its location? Also i need to hook up to the speed wire. So far from searching i found this:
" purple speed sensor wire and the red and black reverse wire for the rear view camera right behind the glove box " <-- does anyone know where exactly this is located?? Is it the ECU module?
I do have a factory service manual but can not find these wires for some reason!!! What is the name of the module these wires tap in to?
Thanks !

As far as I see for the reverse, it doesn't attach to any other type of module, but rather whats located behind the glove box is the joining wire harness. According to the EWD the reverse goes through IL2 connector and its located behind the glove box as shown. You've already identified the wire color as red wire with a black stripe.
I'm having trouble with the speed sensor wire location, but I'll give it another look later when I have time.

ok thanks MUCH! This is helpful, from more searching i found this about VSS (speed wire):
The VSS speed wire is the purple wire on the second plug from the top in the ECU (which is behind the glove box).
So VSS goes into ECU and reverse hanging out in the vicinity. I'll look for them when i get home. Now i nee dto figure out the best way to route cables to the trunk to hook up the camera. Surprisingly i was able to put external gps antenna on the front dash by routing wire along the edge and it looks fine. We'll see if i keep it there.
Anyone knows whats the best way to fix wires in place ? I routed mic wire along the windshield so that its positioned right by the rear view mirror above my head for the best voice pick up, to hold fire in place i wrapped it around in electric tape a few times in few places and jammed it between the windshield and trim along the edge and it is ok for now but im thinking of doing something better than that.
Thanks!
