Issue #2 96 ES300 audio inop.
My rear speakers to my stock(Pioneer) system has no sound. Do we know of any issues with these HU's? Wondering if this is a common ocurrence. I am thinking i could be the rear channel outputs on the amp under the seat fried or the Head Unit output or wiring in btween. Any experience with this system would be helpful before i start T/S system. Also: my future plan is to install aftermarket stereo while using factory amp & speakers. I keep reading noise issues...

Thanks Push. I may call on you for that Amp. I won't know for sertain if my amp is bad until the weekend when i can install the aftermarket HU. I would not be interested in the factory HU. Bluetooth going in.

Capacitors are your common enemy in older Lexus audio equipment.
It's unfortunate, but capacitors on electronic mother boards (of the era) do tend to swell over time and then they leak and your mother board comes to a grinding halt.
It really doesn't matter if we're talking about the head unit or the main amplifier, the problem will eventually attack them both and usually, it proves to be fatal.
As mentioned, Scoche make some very nifty pieces of equipment which allow us to replace OEM head units and amplifiers and then mount new stuff as if it always belonged in place.
That said, a 1997 ES300 is an excellent platform for a young man's first car. Keep us informed on your progress.
