Default What is this?? PCV hose? 92ES

Does anyone know what this hose is? It's coming out of the right side of the front valve cover, and goes to the big air cleaner hose. I'm thinking it could be a PCV hose but I'm not certain. I'm going to be changing the valve cover gasket and if this is infact a PCV hose and the PVC valve is located in the front falve cover gasket then I'd like to change that as well while I'm doing the gasket. Thanks.

I believe that's called a vent hose. It's part of the PCV system but the PCV valve itself is on the back valve cover.

Yup. That hose sucks in fresh air to push the exhaust gases through the PCV valve in the other valve cover.

I saw this video recently, and it helped me better understand the PCV operation.

Thanks for the info, and the video was helpful as well it's always good to understand exactly how these systems work. Now I just hope that hose doesn't break when I take it off it looks pretty fragile... but I think it should be ok.

That's a terribly brittle hose if it's not been changed out ever.... I know this because mine shattered... not broke, SHATTERED, when I touched it the other day. I sent my son to the auto parts store with the whole thing... hose, air handler hose, etc., and told him to have them replace THAT hose. They told him that was a special hose and would have to be ordered in. (Full body eye roll)

I later took the metal piece that attaches to the air handler hose with me to the auto parts store and had them cut me a 1 ft length of heater hose to fit it. Works like a charm.
