I'm looking at a 99 ES300 with 302k. There is a light on, its the icon similar to a oil pressure light.

He tells me he is 100% its low coolant. But i glanced and saw it being somwhat full. Maybe he is telling the truth and its a bad sensor. But what these engines known for oil sludging, i'm leaning on it being oil pressure. How often to these sensors go bad?


Whats a average condition 99 ES300 with 302k asking for now? $1000? No recording of timing belt. So i NEED to do this ASAP. Tires are near end of life. Its clean and a lexus.

I'd lowball the hell out of him. Tell the guy its worth its weight in scrap [haven't checked that price in a while] but 200$ ish

Honestly, unless you're handy, you may be stepping into a world of hurt. Not saying its a bad car, but if the guy doesn't have a record or recall when a timing belt has been done, what other service(s) were skimped out on? Right off the bat, new tires are a 500$ bill. Timing belt, another 500$ [depending on shop] then there's the mystery coolant issue.

This is a few hundred dollar car, and not auction worthy to begin with.

its under the left hand corner of the odometer reading.



i can do the timing belt myself. but if its a sludger, there is nothing i can do about that.
