Good Deal on Winter Tires
I decided to get my first ever set of winter tires for the stock wheels, since I just bought a bigger set of rims. Went on Tire Rack and found this deal.
Michelin X-Ice Xi2 205/65/15 (Studless Ice and Snow)
Regular Price: $106/ea
Closeout Price: $90/ea
Buy 4 and get a $70 prepaid card (until September 3rd, 2012)
T-Rated (118mph) and they're Low Rolling Resistance tires.
I bought a set and my total was $405 (with shipping). So once I get the card, it would be $335. They seem to have one of the highest reviews, and it's a big brand. They should be arriving tomorrow, and I can't wait to try them out when the time comes!

That's an amazing deal.
Wish they had that same deal for 225/70/16 (RX300 tires). The RX needs new tires but I think I'm going to wait till Black Friday and see If I can get a good deal.

Got the tires in. They were all made in the 41st week (early October) of 2011. That's the only bummer.
I noticed that there is an X-Ice Xi3 on the horizon, so they must be selling old inventory.
p.s.: Do you think it's worth paying $45 for their Road Hazard Program?

^ why is that a bummer? It's near impossible to get a "new" tire unless you order from Michelin direct. My tire guy told me this, as he orders from them. I bought blizzaks in 2010, that were made in early '10. Where Costco and all the big guys had theirs with '09 dates... They buy then in bunches and the manufacturer sends whatever

it's only 3 ys of coverage but they pay you for nails and repairs up to $25. that said, I haven't had a nail over 2 sets of snows for my old volvo, and I love having the snows! most nails I have had to deal with occur in the temperate months. GY road hazard is for life of tire, so I get it and usually come out ahead after a few tire repairs.......

So in order for me to come out on top, I will either have to get my tires repaired twice, or get a replacement tire within the first 18 months. One tire costs about $100.

i was going to go to tire rack for winter tires for my 04 ES. Went to Belle Tire, Mich. Firestone winterforce on crappy black steel rims. Great in the snow. noisy, turn the radio up or put in the earplugs, but I don't get stuck. paid under $ 400. Mounted balenced etc. Free balancing rotatetion and repair. Good enough for me.

My car is on its 3rd set of snow tires. By the time each set was done, it was already 3 years old, so as long as they are less then 5 years old it probably isn't a big deal. The michelins are are great snow tire, thats what i had before the general altimaxs i have now. I jsut have them on 15 inch steelies.

^ I don't know about new jersey, but SUPPOSEDLY my area will get a pretty harsh winter this year so be careful what you wish for. I am planning on buying a gs300, but that will not be driven in winter since my es is still running great so that will be my daily driver. I will still be able to get good use out of the snow tires and ski rack i bought to.
