2002 es300 nav dvd stuck
Hi..
I have a 2002 ES300 with Mark Levinson Sound and Navigation system.
I get the following error on the touch screen...
Unable to read data.
Check if map DVD is correct.
I tried to eject the DVD from the NAV system (located in the trunk) by pressing the eject button but nothing happens.
Anyone know how to get the DVD out? and get this thing to operate?
Thanks in advance

02 es300 nav. dvd error
Hi I know this post was a long time ago but I just read it after doing a search. I just bought a new to me 2002 Lexus ES300 with nav. system. I can get my cds out of the unit in the trunk unlike your problem however it says it cant read them and to check if they are the correct one. I figure by now you probably got yours working and maybe have some insight into how I can get mine up and going. Thanks!

I have a 2001 es300 and I know that at least up to 2001 you could not play MP3 CDs. Not sure about the 2002, but make sure that your CD is capable of playing MP3 disks , if that's what you're using.

I'm talking about the ECU I think they call it for the navigation. Its the navigation system box in the trunk. I can eject my cds fine but the issue I'm having is that I keep getting the cant read disk error insert correct disk type message. Looking for someone to help me figure it out as I know nothing about these. I thought maybe you might have some insight after your trouble.
Thanks again!

But since you're able to eject the disc.. have you tried one of those laser head cleaning discs? It just may be dirty.. I'd give that a shot first.
Also, the NAV DVD you have in the drive is it the ORIGINAL? Are there any defects on the DVD?

I have a 2002 Es with ML and the nav disc is not being read and will not eject. I am looking for a repair or a used unit if you know one.
One strange thing happened when the nav dvd is unplugged one speaker would not work. Passenger door midrange speaker!

Ok.. In my situation.. I was able to hear the DVD spin up when I power up the drive but It was not able to read the DVD.. was getting errors as I mentioned originally in my post. I found out that the LASER PICK UP on these drives go bad after some time. For a 2002 car mine lasted about 10 years. So I found a place to repair the unit. As I said it cost $200. If you give me your contact info I will dig up the information on where I had mine done. Only thing is you will have to take it apart and send them the DVD drive only.
But since you're able to eject the disc.. have you tried one of those laser head cleaning discs? It just may be dirty.. I'd give that a shot first.
