noob question: gluing rubber lining to grille?
I bought an aftermarket grille for my 96 es300. It came with a separate length of rubber lining that I was supposed to glue onto the edge of the grille myself. The rubber already had a strip of sticky stuff affixed to it, which felt only sorta sticky to the touch, and barely held on when placed on the plastic of the grille. I tried a bunch of times, it wouldn't hold. I figured the glue was really old or something, so I tore off the sticky strip and decided to try Krazy Glue instead, which I soon found out I was out of.
Except I'm not sure I should be using Krazy Glue at all. I don't know anything about adhesives. What should I be using for this?
Bonus question: what's this rubber strip good for anyway, keeping rain out? Seems like rain's gonna get in there regardless, since, you know, the grille is full of holes.
Thanks.
