Default Power Steering Fluid Leak

Hi All,

I have a 1993 ES300, i have noticed a power steering fluid leak, i have seen that there is some
"leak stop" can anyone give me some info as to if this is a viable option to try or is it not worth it?

Thank to anyone who can help.

You should FIRST determine the cause of the leak, before deciding how to proceed.

Ok here is more detail to the story, i recently bought the ES300 (beautiful car might i add) and herd a sound coming from engine bay when car started when cold, once warmed up it had pretty much gone. Steering started to make a bit of noise, so i check power steering fluid & notice its very low.

I top up the fluid, and see a leak from underneath the car, i assumed it was from the power steering.

Jack up car, not really knowing what im looking for, couldnt see anything as im jacking up with basic jack on side of the road outside my house. That was last night, went out this morning, leak has stopped.

I thought it may of been cause the fluid is cool and might not be able to get through the area of the leak, so i start car, wheel lock both ways about 3-4 times each side, still no leak, now im confused.

Can anyone give advise as to why it may have leaked and why it has now stopped.

Thanks again to everyone that helps out this is a great forum community

A lot more investigative work is required on your part to find the source of the leak before anyone can could provide you with any meaningful feedback.

A good place to check is the bellows on the rack. Use a awl and put a small hole in each side and see if fluid comes out. That was how I found out that my rack was leaking. The other place is the pump. If you can get under the car and look up by the passenger side front wheel. The only other hidden place is behind the passenger headlight assembly.

Default leak

My brother had the same problem with his 95 es300 it would leak then stop but yes it is due to the fluid cooling down which makes it thicker so it doesnt leak as much. More the likely its you lower hose that is leaking and is a cheap fix you can either buy a new one or cut about a half inch off and put a new clamp
