I have key, well duh, of course, but it doesn't have a button or anything on it, just the lexus symbol and it's thin....I'm trying to get a remote start put in, but I don't know if my key has a chip in it...you guys have any input? they wanna charge me for something to make the car think the chip is near by and its an extra 80$....I don't think it has a chip but lemme know

If it isn't a master key, and by the way you described your key it doesn't sound like a master key, I'd say pretty confidently that there is no chip in it. Not even sure if any of the 2gen ES's ever had a transponder in the key.

ok so then I'm trying to install a viper 5701 with remote start and the shop is trying to tell me they need to put something else besides the viper in order for the remote start to work, is this correct?
