My 93 ES doesn't start immediatley sometimes...
I just got a super clean 93 ES300 and it runs great...except for sometimes I leave it parked, and I go to start it, it takes a few attempts to get it to run and stay running. Is this a common problem with these cars? I know that honda's of the same age can do this due to the main relay exposed to high temperatures living in hot sunny florida. Can someone please let me know what this could be or if it happened to you. Much thanks!

First you may have gotten some bad gas, so I would try a fuel injector cleaner. It's simple and cheap. I like the lucas inj cleaner. Run that for a tank and if that doesn't work then i would do a fuel pressure ck. Your fuel pump may be going or the filter may be dirty. If the filter has been changed recently and the pressure is low then it's the pump not holding pressure.

Not clear:
Is the starter motor cranking or does it just click?
If it just clicks -- do a search -- the solenoid contacts can be bad.
This is assuming that the electrical system is OK.
If it is cranking and just not starting -- all kinds of stuff can be wrong

Too many possibilities -- could be one of many sensors sensors like CPS (crank position) or could be fuel pressure.
Does it start when it is hot?
If it starts and you let it run for 15 seconds and turn it off -- will it start normally?

its usually after it's hot outside and driven proir. I know that on older honda's the main relay would be the culprit in this instance but, this is obviously not a honda....

check IAC valve
Check your IAC (idle air control valve). It's a solenoid valve that could be bad or clogged with dirt. While your doing that might as well clean your throttle body also.

oops...I only replied because I saw it was on the first page of topics last night, so I thought it was current.
so what was you final fix sc4hunnit?
sorry...pet peeve: when people post Qs and others take time to help them, I wish they'd post their final fix to help others= the same ones that tried to help them. I am guilty of same sometimes, but I try to remember to post my final fixes.
mr. booby, thank for the answer to fuel filter. I may just do that as good maintenance, as I have no idea if/when mine's ever been done.
