Default good set of lights for my 2ES?

I have a 93 ES300 and am looking for some headlight bulbs. The low beams are terrible but the high beams arent bad really. So what should I buy? Im either thinking Silver Stars or HID's. If I went with HID's what would be a good set to go with? Any one recomend some good quality BRIGHT lights? I want to be able to see at night....

HIDs ftw! Go with some 55w DDMs if you don't mind terrible CS. Otherwise, pay more for "better" quality and go with Xenon Depot or HIDExtra among others.

Yeah I do have a set. I got the 35w 5000k kit for my low beams and also a 35w 3000k kit for my fogs. However, since you're looking for something brighter, I'd go for the 55w, but only for your low beams. The housing for the fogs are too small and won't be able to handle the heat of a 55w bulb.

I only have the low beams in for now and they seem bright enough and they look like good quality. I haven't had a chance to install the 3000k yet cause it'll involve some modding before I can get them into the housing. Hopefully I'll have them in by the end of next week after finals are over

Ya idk if I want to go with 55w. heard the ballast wont last as long as the 35w. I would like bright but not super bright yet. car has 239k on it and im bringing it back from the dead.....as some people will say. I bet the lights in it are just cheapies. So HID was the route I wanted to go. Wasnt sure if an ebay kit was worth getting or if there was somewhere people buy them that know they are good quality. but I may buy the 6000k set off the other guy here. 6000k shoudnt blind other drivers and make them flash me but be bright enough to get me the output im looking for. but I am also looking to get a 3000k hid kit for my fogs too. near future tho.

I only run the 35w and there plenty bright. Just aim them properly, and make sure you clean up the headlights lense.
And yeah I got mines from ddm tuning as well. Supposed lifetime warranties.

I always thought that 4300k had the best light output?..which is why I got the 5000k kit. Correct me if I'm wrong

4300 is for the best light output but color wise it is more yellow. I had 10000k, qbblue, 8000k, and 6000k out of all those 6000k is the best for color and lightoutput plus i had to reaim the lights on the road and it is spread out more. The brand is elite.

The k rating for temperature determines color, not how annoying your lights will look to others. Your cutoff line determines how annoying your lights will be for other (mainly oncoming) drivers. Here's a picture of cutoff:

4300 is the color/temp of most OEM HIDs and is very white. Here's a listing that I hope will help you start to learn about this stuff:
Yellow:
1500 k Candlelight
2700-2900 k Yellow painted fog halogen bulbs
-------------------------------
Yellowish white:
3200 k Sunrise/sunset
3200 k Premium H7 non painted halogen bulb
3400 k 1 hour from dusk/dawn
-------------------------------
White:
4100 k Philips/Osram OEM HID D2S
5500 k Bright sunny daylight around noon
----------------
Blueish white
5500-5600 k Electronic photo flash
6000 k Philips Ultinon HID D2S
6500-7500 k Overcast sky
-----------------
Blue:
9000-12000 k Blue sky
-----------------
Purple:
28000 Northern sky
12000-30000 k Ultra Violet light (black light)
In summary, you can take the word of strangers on the internet and get something very quickly that you might or might not be happy with. I recommend at least a little bit of time studying HID reference sites and the best one I've seen is at HIDPlanet.

Here's their HID Primer which should kick some immediate knowledge your direction. I hope this helps. Good luck and let us know how your project progresses.
